CONCORD ELEMENTARY'S SCHOOL MISSION

Our mission at Concord Elementary School is to provide a positive, meaningful environment that enables students to become confident responsible, lifelong learners.

 NEWS

 

eCO CREDIT UNION TEACHER OF THE MONTH: Ms. Cortney Cooper, our PE teacher, was selected as the eCO Teacher of the Month for March.  The award also includes a $250 donation for the teacher to use for the school and students.  Ms Cooper decided to add the $250 to the New Playground Fund.  All of our students will benefit from this award.  Ms. Cooper was nominated by Mrs. Cruz, our music teacher.

 ANNOUNCEMENTS AND IMPORTANT DATES

ARMT+ TESTING BEGINS IN APRIL: The new Alabama Reading and Math Test+ will given to our third, fourth, and fifth grade students  on April 10, 11, 17, and 18.  The SAT-10 is no longer part of the student testing done by the State Department of Education.  The ARMT+ is a longer and more rigorous test.  We are fortunate to have dedicated teachers who work hard to prepare our students to demonstrate the knowledge they have gained during the year. 

APRIL 20: Children's Theater Our kindergartners and first graders will be going to their final show for this year on April 20th.  "The Litle Engine that Could" will be a great show for them.  it is based on that children's book.  They will leave at 8:30 for the 9:30 performance.  They will have lunch after they return.

APRIL 23 - 26: Kindergarten Pre-Registration for 2012-2013 Concord, Hueytown, North Highland and Oak Grove Schools will be having our annual kindergarten pre-registration the week of April 23-26.  To be eligible for enrolling the child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2012.

APRIL 27: School is closed for a Weather Day

April 30 - May 4: Spring Book Fair

MAY 4: Field Day

May 7 - 11: Spring Penny Drop

 On Friday, October 28, Concord teachers, faculty, students and community members participated in a Ground "Taking" Ceremony to celebrate the beginning of our new school building.
